“Sparkling Clean!” I was immediately impressed by how clean the room was---it smelled new and was decorated in soothing colors with lots of throw pillows. The beds were plush and comfortable. I loved the granite sink in the bathroom and the wet bar in the room. The front staff was nice and the morning buffet had a lot of variety (even roll your own sushi!!) “Great service, even better price” We were were pleased with the free AM breakfast, comfortable beds, clean facilities, and very accessible Internet Access. All of these were available at just half the price of downtown San Jose hotels. The outdoor pool and hot tub looked lovely as well. “Loved it!” The hotel was very nicely kept. The rooms were kept well and the overall atmosphere was friendly. I used the exercise room and the equipment was ok. It was in a good central location to Silicon Valley and the training centers I needed to go to were not very far. If you are going on a business trip here, this would be a great choice!! “Hawthorn Suites 2nd to None!” We just returned from a family weekend getaway to Great America. Our hotel stay was the best we have ever received! We have a large family and it can sometimes be hard to accomadate us.
I found the Hawthorn Suites online and was won over with their Great America package which included 2 FREE tickets to the park for EACH night you stayed. So all together we received 4 FREE TICKETS. That in itself was awesome because the price of the room was completely reasonable. Our room was great for what we paid. Breakfast was a nice change from just your ordinary continental breakfast, there was also hot waffles, eggs, potatoes, breakfast meat, etc. Very cool. And what can I say about housekeeping, we went down to eat about 8 a.m. and when we returned about 45 minutes later, housekeeping had already been to our room! It was great.
We arrived late Friday evening and I'd like to give a special thanks to the night crew at the front desk. When they saw our party, they immediately came up to our room with another free goodie bag also included in the package. They let us know about the free dvd rental, so we grabbed a movie and had the popcorn that was in our goodie bag along with some candy. My kids were good to go! Oh, and they had a free shuttle to and from the park at our convenience! The list just goes on and on.

“Happy at the Hawthorn” I travel quite a bit for business, and generally stay at moderately priced hotels. I found the Hawthorn Suites to be delightful. Bedding was exceptional, and the room was very nicely appointed with several comforting amenities. Very clean and obviously recently renovated. Complimentary internet was also a plus. I received a recommendation from the Front Desk (thanks, Teri!) for a nearby Italian restaurant where I could get cioppino (one of my favorite meals; an Italian fisherman's stew) and it was excellent. Complimentary breakfast was also better than most. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. I will stay here again on my next trip to San Jose, and highly recommend it. “Hawthorne Suites Rocks” I had no previous experience with Hawthorne Suites when I booked a room there to be close to the hospital where an ailing friend was experiencing complications after surgery. The location is great, close to major freeways, and the property offers a shuttle service within 5 miles (which I didn't have to use since I had a car).
My room was fantastic! The hotel is undergoing a renovation. The top floor (3rd) has been completed, and that's where I was. With amenities like a flat-screen TV, in-room refrigerator and microwave, and free high-speed Internet...I was sorry I didn't spend more time there! The king bed was comfortable and welcoming with soothingly colored bedding. The clock-radio had an i-pod recharging station built into it, another nice amenity.
The breakfast buffet was a surprise, featuring hot items like eggs and sausage in addition to the standard bagels, toast, pastries and cereal typically found at hotels. The coolest thing was having the ability to make your own waffle...which I took advantage of every morning I was there. I believe they also have a happy hour spread, but I was never around then. The hotel also has an extensive video collection which is available free to guests.
As of April 2008, the second floor is being renovated, so I imagine that should be finished soon. As noted, the third floor is already completed. “totally worth it!” The hotel is decent and comfortable. the price is reasonable and it includes complementary breakfast. the front desk person is friendly and helpful. it also has a small pool and gym even though I didn't get a chance to use it. We spent two nights at the Hawthorn and enjoyed our stay very much. The room was clean and had everything we needed, refrigerator, microwave, free movies, heated pool etc. The breakfast was wonderful, and there was a good variety ot things to choose from. The service we received from Roxanna at the Front Desk was excellent. She was very pleasent and helpful and gave great restaurant advice! When we asked about a shopping mall she gave us 3 to choose from. She never made us feel like we were asking to many questions and believe me we did! We would recommend the Hawthorne to our friends and family.

The always pleasant staff welcomes us like family on every visit. Clean, and well appointed rooms are spacious and parking is very convenient. Adding to our overall experiences are the location and the weekend specials. Great America is close by, and other fun places to visit offer something for everyone. We have also enjoyed the Hawthorne Suites Airport Shuttle, when needed, they will even provide transfers to and from Great America!

The TripAdvisor Member (JimNMI)What a pleasant surprise! We chose The Hawthron Suites for our lodging while attending my husband's 30th Santa Clara University reunion. Although it is in an older part of town, it was very nicely maintained, clean, quiet, comfortable, safe, and reasonably priced. The reception staff (on the phone when my husband made the reservation with Jack, with Leana when we checked in, and another gentleman when we checked out) were all very pleasant, cheerful, efficient, and helpful. The hot breakfast in the little dining room and the free internet access were both nice touches. We would certainly stay at that property again and intend to seek Hawthorne properties when we travel in other cities.

The TripAdvisor Member (MiknMin)This Hotel is located in the heart of Santa Clara Valley and is very close to Great America and excellent shopping. We make a point of staying at this location at least three or four times a year. The staff is very knowledgeable about current activities in the area and they always have good recomendations for restaurants. We took advantage of a great breakfast that is served each morning in a clean and friendly dining area.
During our last visit our daughter and grandson also stayed at the hotel and we enjoyed the convenience of being able to visit his Great Gradmother, Great America, Valley Fair Shopping and Santana Row his favorite stroll around and watch people place.
We have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and most were just a place to stay away from home but the location and staff of Hawthorn makes it seem like you are sill at home and part of the family.

Couldn't beat the price, as we got two adult tickets to Great America and the free snacks with our room. They also provided a shuttle. They have a nice size video collection that you may choose two at a time from.
I read the previous reviews, so naturally, I looked carefully at the condition of the hotel. I thought it was in good condition. The bathroom looked new, the carpets and furniture were nice, and the outside appeared clean. I liked the little touches, like the fancy soaps and lotion.
Breakfast included scramble eggs and country fried potatoes, and the usual continental breakfast fare. Coffee was fine (very important).
